Article 1 Definitions

In these general terms and conditions, the following definitions apply:

  1. Organizer: AAC in collaboration with Rondje Mokum.
  2. Race: The Sloterplasloop, also referred to as SPL: a running event for recreational and competitive runners organized under the Atletiekunie.
  3. Participant: The natural person who has registered in the prescribed manner to take part in the Sloterplasloop.

Article 2 Participation

  1. Participation in the race is open to persons aged at least 13 years for the 5 km and 15 years for the 10 km.
  2. Participation in the Kidsrun is open to those aged 3 to 6 years (750 meters) and 7 to 12 years (1.5 km).
  3. The participant must complete the registration form fully and truthfully. Only after the entry fee has been paid in full and the participant has agreed to the general and competition regulations, may the participant actually take part.
  4. If the participant is unable to attend at the last moment, they may transfer their registration to another person, provided the organization is informed before the race. The original participant must ensure that the replacement receives all necessary information about the event, the general terms, and the requirement to report to the organizer. The participant can modify their personal details in the self-service dashboard up to one week before the race.
  5. It is not possible to change the name of the replacement participant in the system less than one week before the race. The replacement participant will then compete under the name of the originally registered participant. Modification of personal data by the organizer after transfer of the start number is possible up to 24 hours after the Sloterplasloop.
  6. If a registered participant does not run and has no replacement, the organizer is not obliged to refund the entry fee.
  7. The organizer may decide to cancel the event due to special circumstances. In such cases, no refund of entry fees will be made.
  8. The organizer may, under exceptional circumstances, decide to end the race early or to change the course, which may alter the distance. In such cases, no refund of entry fees will be made.
  9. A decision by the organizer to cancel the race does not create any liability for reimbursement of costs incurred by the participant.

Article 3 Liability

  1. Participation is at the participant’s own risk. The participant acknowledges that participation requires good physical and mental health and adequate training. The participant declares to meet this requirement.
  2. The organizer is not liable for any damage resulting from participation, unless such damage can be attributed to intent or gross negligence on the part of the organizer. This also applies in the event of injury, serious health issues, or even death.
  3. If the organizer can be held liable due to intent or gross negligence, compensation for damages will be limited to the amount paid out by the organizer’s insurer in respect of that damage.
  4. The participant must be adequately insured against the risk of damage that they or their next of kin may suffer as a result of injury, illness, or death caused by participation in the race.
  5. The participant indemnifies the organizer against damage to third parties resulting from acts or omissions attributable to the participant in connection with the race. The participant must rely on their own liability insurance for such damage.
  6. Sponsors of the event and the municipality in which the event takes place are, in the same way as the organizer, excluded from liability.

Article 4 Portrait Rights

The participant hereby grants prior consent to the organizer for the publication of photos and videos taken during or around the event in which the participant is visible. If necessary, the participant may request the organizer afterward to remove any personal photo from the organizer’s websites.

Article 5 Personal Data

The participant hereby grants prior consent to the organizer, and to third parties assisting the organizer, to use the personal data provided by the participant for the purpose of organizing the race and for related data processing by appointed parties. The data collected will be used solely for the organization of the Sloterplasloop.

Article 6 Dispute Resolution

Disputes between the organizer and the participant will be settled in accordance with
the arbitration rules of the Atletiekunie or, in their absence, the rules of
het Nederlandse Arbitrage Instituut. A dispute is considered to exist if either
party declares that this is the case.
